Biography
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to hear songs built from sheer lyrical honesty; songs so filled with imagery and emotion you can taste it? If so, you have come to the right place.
Jay Dunphy is a familiar sight around Vancouver Island and Western Canada, writing and playing his songs with a cigarette in his hand and a story in his throat. Frequently touring Canada in a succession of beat-up old cars, Jay has appeared on radio and television programs across the country for years. Since early 2001, Jay has been performing to strong reviews and critical acclaim with a number of groups. His most recent line-up — "The Religion" — includes ex-Moonshine Revellers bassist Ryan "The Tiger" Steele, drummer extrordinaire Alan Shook, and ex-Antilles guitarist Josh Holland.
Jay is currently working on material for his upcoming third album, Struggle, having returned from a far-reaching Cross Canada tour this last April.
Armed with a new sense of purpose and a great new team, Jay Dunphy and The Religion are at the forefront of modern folk-rock in Canada.
